How To Install libvorbis-java on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libvorbis-java on Kali Linux.

What is libvorbis-java

libvorbis-java is:

vorbis-java is a pure Java library for working with Ogg, Vorbis, FLAC, Opus and Speex files

Support for the Ogg container is fairly complete, offering the ability to read, write, add and change streams within an Ogg file. It should be possible to use the Ogg parts as a basis for dealing with any multimedia data stored in an Ogg container. There is basic support for Skeleton Annodex streams, which provide metadata on top of Ogg files about the streams, but it isn’t fully integrated.

Support for the Vorbis audio format so far concentrates on metadata. It is possible to retrieve and change metadata (such as sampling rates, user comments etc), and tools are provided to query and alter these. Encoding/decoding audio data is not supported.

Opus and Speex support is slightly less than that of Vorbis, covering retrieving of metadata (such as sampling rates, user comments etc). However, basic Opus or Speex audio frame support is outstanding. Tooling exists for querying and changing metadata for Opus only.

Very limited support is also included for FLAC comments (user metadata), which use the same scheme as Vorbis. FLAC-native and FLAC-in-Ogg files are both supported for extracting the user metadata.

There are three methods to install libvorbis-java on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libvorbis-java Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libvorbis-java using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libvorbis-java

Install libvorbis-java Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libvorbis-java using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libvorbis-java

Install libvorbis-java Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libvorbis-java using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libvorbis-java

How To Uninstall libvorbis-java on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libvorbis-java package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libvorbis-java

Uninstall libvorbis-java And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libvorbis-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libvorbis-java

Remove libvorbis-java Configurations and Data

To remove libvorbis-java configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libvorbis-java

Remove libvorbis-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libvorbis-java configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libvorbis-java
