on Rocky Linux 8.
What is libvmmalloc-debug
The libvmmalloc library transparently converts all the dynamic memory allocations into persistent memory allocations. This allows the use of persistent memory as volatile memory without modifying the target application. This sub-package contains debug variant of the library, providing run-time assertions and trace points. The typical way to access the debug version is to set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib64/pmdk_debug.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install libvmmalloc-debug
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libvmmalloc-debug.

Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libvmmalloc-debug
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libvmmalloc-debug

Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libvmmalloc-debug
using yum

How To Uninstall libvmmalloc-debug on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the libvmmalloc-debug
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libvmmalloc-debug
