What is libvmmalloc-debug

The libvmmalloc library transparently converts all the dynamic memory allocations into persistent memory allocations. This allows the use of persistent memory as volatile memory without modifying the target application. This sub-package contains debug variant of the library, providing run-time assertions and trace points. The typical way to access the debug version is to set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib64/pmdk_debug.

We can use yum or dnf to install libvmmalloc-debug on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libvmmalloc-debug.

Install libvmmalloc-debug on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install libvmmalloc-debug using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install libvmmalloc-debug

Install libvmmalloc-debug on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

How To Uninstall libvmmalloc-debug on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the libvmmalloc-debug package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove libvmmalloc-debug
