What is libvmem-debug

The libvmem library turns a pool of persistent memory into a volatile memory pool, similar to the system heap but kept separate and with its own malloc-style API. This sub-package contains debug variant of the library, providing run-time assertions and trace points. The typical way to access the debug version is to set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib64/pmdk_debug.

We can use yum or dnf to install libvmem-debug on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libvmem-debug.

Install libvmem-debug on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install libvmem-debug using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install libvmem-debug

Install libvmem-debug on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install libvmem-debug using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install libvmem-debug

How To Uninstall libvmem-debug on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the libvmem-debug package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove libvmem-debug
