How To Install libvips42 on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libvips42
libvips42 is:
VIPS is an image processing system designed with efficiency in mind. It is good with large images (ones that larger than the amount of RAM in your machine), and for working with colour. It can perform many image manipulation tasks much faster than other packages such as ImageMagick and the GIMP and includes some special features such as creating single “mosaic” images from multiple parts.
VIPS consists of two main components: an image processing library with some command-line tools and a spreadsheet-like graphical user interface. The graphical interface is available in the nip2 package.
This package includes runtime libraries needed to run applications linked with the vips library.
There are three methods to install libvips42 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libvips42 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips42 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libvips42

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips42 using apt by running the following command:

Install libvips42 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips42 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libvips42
How To Uninstall libvips42 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libvips42 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libvips42
Uninstall libvips42 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libvips42 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libvips42
Remove libvips42 Configurations and Data
To remove libvips42 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libvips42
Remove libvips42 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libvips42 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libvips42
