How To Install libvips-tools on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install libvips-tools on Debian 9.
What is libvips-tools
libvips-tools is:
VIPS is an image processing system designed with efficiency in mind. It is good with large images (ones that larger than the amount of RAM in your machine), and for working with colour. It can perform many image manipulation tasks much faster than other packages such as ImageMagick and the GIMP and includes some special features such as creating single “mosaic” images from multiple parts.
VIPS consists of two main components: an image processing library with some command-line tools and a spreadsheet-like graphical user interface. The graphical interface is available in the nip2 package.
This package includes several command-line utilities that make it possible to use some vips functionality from shell scripts or the command line.
There are three methods to install libvips-tools on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libvips-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libvips-tools
Install libvips-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libvips-tools
Install libvips-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libvips-tools
How To Uninstall libvips-tools on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libvips-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libvips-tools
Uninstall libvips-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libvips-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libvips-tools
Remove libvips-tools Configurations and Data
To remove libvips-tools configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libvips-tools
Remove libvips-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libvips-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
