How To Install libvips-dev on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libvips-dev
on Kali Linux.
What is libvips-dev
libvips-dev is:
VIPS is an image processing system designed with efficiency in mind. It is good with large images (ones that larger than the amount of RAM in your machine), and for working with colour. It can perform many image manipulation tasks much faster than other packages such as ImageMagick and the GIMP and includes some special features such as creating single “mosaic” images from multiple parts.
VIPS consists of two main components: an image processing library with some command-line tools and a spreadsheet-like graphical user interface. The graphical interface is available in the nip2 package.
This package includes all development files needed to compile applications that use the vips library.
There are three methods to install libvips-dev
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libvips-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libvips-dev
Install libvips-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libvips-dev
Install libvips-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libvips-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libvips-dev
How To Uninstall libvips-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libvips-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libvips-dev
Uninstall libvips-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libvips-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libvips-dev
Remove libvips-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libvips-dev
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libvips-dev
Remove libvips-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libvips-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libvips-dev
