How To Install libuim8 on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libuim8
libuim8 is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package contains the shared libraries for uim.
There are three methods to install libuim8 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libuim8 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libuim8 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libuim8
Install libuim8 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libuim8 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libuim8
Install libuim8 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libuim8 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libuim8
How To Uninstall libuim8 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libuim8 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libuim8

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libuim8

To remove libuim8 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libuim8
