How To Install libteam5 on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libteam5
libteam5 is:
Libteam is a library for communication with the Netlink kernel module. It is used by
teamd.
Libteam provides a mechanism to team multiple NICs (ports) at OSI Layer 2 (Data link) into a single virtual NIC. The process is called “channel bonding”, “Ethernet bonding”, “channel teaming”, “link aggregation”, etc. This is already implemented in the Linux kernel by the bonding driver but unlike the bonding driver, libteam (user space) has the following additional features:
- load-balancing for LACP support
- NS/NA (IPV6) link monitoring
- port priorities and stickiness (“primary” option enhancement)
- separate per-port link monitoring setup
Libteam requires Linux kernel 3.3 or higher.
There are three methods to install libteam5 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libteam5 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libteam5 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libteam5
Install libteam5 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libteam5 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libteam5
Install libteam5 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libteam5 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libteam5
How To Uninstall libteam5 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libteam5 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libteam5
Uninstall libteam5 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libteam5 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libteam5
Remove libteam5 Configurations and Data
To remove libteam5 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libteam5
Remove libteam5 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libteam5 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libteam5
