How To Install libteam-utils on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libteam-utils on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libteam-utils
libteam-utils is:
Libteam provides a mechanism to team multiple NICs (ports) at OSI Layer 2 (Data link) into a single virtual NIC. The process is called “channel bonding”, “Ethernet bonding”, “channel teaming”, “link aggregation”, etc. This is already implemented in the Linux kernel by the bonding driver but unlike the bonding driver, libteam (user space) has the following additional features:
- load-balancing for LACP support
- NS/NA (IPV6) link monitoring
- port priorities and stickiness (“primary” option enhancement)
- separate per-port link monitoring setup
Libteam requires Linux kernel 3.3 or higher.
This package provies user-space counterpart for team network driver.
There are three methods to install libteam-utils on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libteam-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libteam-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libteam-utils
Install libteam-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libteam-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libteam-utils
Install libteam-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libteam-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libteam-utils
How To Uninstall libteam-utils on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libteam-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libteam-utils
Uninstall libteam-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libteam-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libteam-utils
Remove libteam-utils Configurations and Data
To remove libteam-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libteam-utils
Remove libteam-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libteam-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libteam-utils
