How To Install libsquid1 on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libsquid1
on Kali Linux.
What is libsquid1
libsquid1 is:
SQUID is a library of C code functions for sequence analysis. It also includes a number of small utility programs to convert, show statistics, manipulate and do other functions on sequence files.
The original name of the package is “squid”, but since there is already a squid on the archive (a proxy cache), it was renamed to “biosquid”.
This package contains the dynamic SQUID library.
There are three methods to install libsquid1
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsquid1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsquid1
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsquid1

After updating apt database, We can install libsquid1

sudo apt -y install libsquid1
Install libsquid1 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsquid1
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsquid1
How To Uninstall libsquid1 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libsquid1
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsquid1
Uninstall libsquid1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsquid1
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsquid1
Remove libsquid1 Configurations and Data
To remove libsquid1
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsquid1
Remove libsquid1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
