How To Install libsquid-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libsquid-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libsquid-dev
libsquid-dev is:
SQUID is a library of C code functions for sequence analysis. It also includes a number of small utility programs to convert, show statistics, manipulate and do other functions on sequence files.
The original name of the package is “squid”, but since there is already a squid on the archive (a proxy cache), it was renamed to “biosquid”.
This package contains the header files and the static SQUID library.
There are three methods to install libsquid-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsquid-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsquid-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsquid-devInstall libsquid-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsquid-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libsquid-devInstall libsquid-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsquid-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsquid-devHow To Uninstall libsquid-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libsquid-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsquid-devUninstall libsquid-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsquid-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsquid-devRemove libsquid-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libsquid-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsquid-devRemove libsquid-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libsquid-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libsquid-devDependencies
