SoX is the swiss army knife of sound processing.

This package contains the SoX library which enables to convert various formats of computer audio files in to other formats. It also allows you to apply various effects to sound files.

Any format support requires at least libsox-fmt-base. Sound card I/O requires libsox-fmt-alsa, libsox-fmt-ao, libsox-fmt-oss or libsox-fmt-pulse.

There are three methods to install libsox2 on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libsox2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libsox2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libsox2

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libsox2 using apt by running the following command:

Install libsox2 Using aptitude
