How To Install libsodium-dev on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libsodium-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libsodium-dev
libsodium-dev is:
NaCl (pronounced “salt”) is a new easy-to-use high-speed software library for network communication, encryption, decryption, signatures, etc.
NaCl’s goal is to provide all of the core operations needed to build higher-level cryptographic tools.
Sodium is a portable, cross-compilable, installable, packageable fork of NaCl, with a compatible API.
This package provides development headers needed for applications that use libsodium.
There are three methods to install libsodium-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsodium-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsodium-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsodium-devInstall libsodium-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsodium-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libsodium-devInstall libsodium-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsodium-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsodium-devHow To Uninstall libsodium-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libsodium-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsodium-devUninstall libsodium-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsodium-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsodium-devRemove libsodium-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libsodium-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsodium-devRemove libsodium-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
