How To Install libsnappy-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libsnappy-dev
libsnappy-dev is:
Snappy is a compression/decompression library. It does not aim for maximum compression, or compatibility with any other compression library; instead, it aims for very high speeds and reasonable compression.
For instance, compared to the fastest mode of zlib, Snappy is an order of magnitude faster for most inputs, but the resulting compressed files are anywhere from 20% to 100% bigger. On a single core of a Core i7 processor in 64-bit mode, Snappy compresses at about 250 MB/sec or more and decompresses at about 500 MB/sec or more.
This package contains the development files required to build programs against Snappy.
There are three methods to install libsnappy-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsnappy-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-dev using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsnappy-dev
How To Uninstall libsnappy-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libsnappy-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsnappy-dev
Uninstall libsnappy-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsnappy-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsnappy-dev
Remove libsnappy-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libsnappy-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsnappy-dev
Remove libsnappy-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libsnappy-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libsnappy-dev
