How To Install libsmc-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libsmc-dev
libsmc-dev is:
The State Machine Compiler (SMC) from http://smc.sourceforge.net/ converts a language-independent description of a state machine into the source code to support that state machine.
This package contains the libraries that a compiled state machine depends on, but it does not contain the compiler itself.
There are three methods to install libsmc-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsmc-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libsmc-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsmc-dev
How To Uninstall libsmc-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libsmc-dev package we can use the following command:

To uninstall libsmc-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsmc-dev

To remove libsmc-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsmc-dev
