What is libsmc-dev

libsmc-dev is:

The State Machine Compiler (SMC) from http://smc.sourceforge.net/ converts a language-independent description of a state machine into the source code to support that state machine.

This package contains the libraries that a compiled state machine depends on, but it does not contain the compiler itself.

There are three methods to install libsmc-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
