How To Install libsmc-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libsmc-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libsmc-dev
libsmc-dev is:
The State Machine Compiler (SMC) from http://smc.sourceforge.net/ converts a language-independent description of a state machine into the source code to support that state machine.
This package contains the libraries that a compiled state machine depends on, but it does not contain the compiler itself.
There are three methods to install libsmc-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsmc-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsmc-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsmc-devInstall libsmc-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsmc-dev using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libsmc-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsmc-devHow To Uninstall libsmc-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libsmc-dev package we can use the following command:

To uninstall libsmc-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsmc-devRemove libsmc-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libsmc-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsmc-devRemove libsmc-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
