How To Install libsmbios-doc on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libsmbios-doc on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libsmbios-doc
libsmbios-doc is:
libsmbios aims towards providing access to as much BIOS information as possible. It does this by providing a library of functions that can be used as well as sample binaries.
It incorporates extensible access to SMBIOS information capabilities and ability to perform unit tests across multiple systems without using physical hardware. Moreover, centralized, data-driven exception handling for broken BIOS tables is provided. Currently, full access to the SMBIOS table and its items is implemented. Additionally, access and manipulation of Dell Indexed IO Token (type 0xD4) is implemented. This token is a vendor-extension SMBIOS structure which allows uniform access to manipulate the system CMOS to enable, disable, or otherwise manipulate normal BIOS functions or features.
There are three methods to install libsmbios-doc on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsmbios-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsmbios-doc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsmbios-doc
Install libsmbios-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libsmbios-doc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libsmbios-doc
Install libsmbios-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsmbios-doc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsmbios-doc
How To Uninstall libsmbios-doc on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libsmbios-doc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsmbios-doc
Uninstall libsmbios-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsmbios-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsmbios-doc
Remove libsmbios-doc Configurations and Data
To remove libsmbios-doc configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsmbios-doc
Remove libsmbios-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libsmbios-doc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libsmbios-doc
