What is libsmbios-cpp
Libsmbios is a library and utilities that can be used by client programs to get information from standard BIOS tables, such as the SMBIOS table. This package provides the C++-based libsmbios library, with a C++ interface. It is not actively maintained, but provided for backwards compatibility. New programs should use the libsmbios C interface.
We can use yum or dnf to install libsmbios-cpp on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libsmbios-cpp.
Install libsmbios-cpp on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libsmbios-cpp using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libsmbios-cpp
Install libsmbios-cpp on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libsmbios-cpp using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libsmbios-cpp
How To Uninstall libsmbios-cpp on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the libsmbios-cpp package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libsmbios-cpp
