In this tutorial we learn how to install libslang2 on Kali Linux.

What is libslang2

libslang2 is:

S-Lang is a C programmer’s library that includes routines for the rapid development of sophisticated, user friendly, multi-platform applications.

This package contains only the shared library libslang.so.* and copyright information. It is only necessary for programs that use this library (such as jed and slrn). If you plan on doing development with S-Lang, you will need the companion -dev package as well.

There are three methods to install libslang2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libslang2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libslang2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libslang2

Install libslang2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libslang2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libslang2

Install libslang2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libslang2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libslang2

How To Uninstall libslang2 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libslang2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libslang2

To uninstall libslang2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libslang2
