How To Install libshp-dev on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libshp-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libshp-dev
libshp-dev is:
The Shapefile format is a working and interchange format promoted by ESRI for simple vector data with attributes. It is apparently the only file format that can be edited in ARCView 2/3, and can also be exported and imported in ArcGis.
This package includes the development files.
There are three methods to install libshp-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libshp-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libshp-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libshp-devInstall libshp-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libshp-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libshp-devInstall libshp-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libshp-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libshp-devHow To Uninstall libshp-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libshp-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libshp-devUninstall libshp-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libshp-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libshp-devRemove libshp-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libshp-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libshp-devRemove libshp-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
