How To Install libsfcgal-dev on Debian 12

In this tutorial we learn how to install libsfcgal-dev on Debian 12.
What is libsfcgal-dev
libsfcgal-dev is:
SFCGAL is a C++ wrapper library around CGAL with the aim of supporting ISO 19107:2013 and OGC Simple Features Access 1.2 for 3D operations.
SFCGAL provides standard compliant geometry types and operations, that can be accessed from its C or C++ APIs. PostGIS uses the C API, to expose some SFCGAL’s functions in spatial databases (cf. PostGIS manual).
This package provides the development files.
There are three methods to install libsfcgal-dev on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsfcgal-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsfcgal-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsfcgal-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsfcgal-dev
How To Uninstall libsfcgal-dev on Debian 12
To uninstall only the libsfcgal-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsfcgal-dev

To uninstall libsfcgal-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsfcgal-dev
