How To Install libsereal-perl on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libsereal-perl on Kali Linux.

What is libsereal-perl

libsereal-perl is:

Sereal is an efficient, compact-output, binary and feature-rich serialization protocol. The Perl encoder is implemented as the Sereal::Encoder module, the Perl decoder correspondingly as Sereal::Decoder. They are distributed separately, in Debian as libsereal-decoder-perl and libsereal-encoder-perl.

This Sereal module is a very thin wrapper around both Sereal::Encoder and Sereal::Decoder. It depends on both and loads both. So if you have a user of both encoder and decoder, it is enough to depend on a particular version of Sereal and you’ll get the most recent released versions of Sereal::Encoder and Sereal::Decoder.

There are three methods to install libsereal-perl on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libsereal-perl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libsereal-perl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libsereal-perl

How To Uninstall libsereal-perl on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libsereal-perl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libsereal-perl

Uninstall libsereal-perl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libsereal-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsereal-perl

To remove libsereal-perl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libsereal-perl
