In this tutorial we learn how to install libsapi-utils on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is libsapi-utils

libsapi-utils is:

TPM2.0 TSS (Software Stack) consists of API layers provided to support TPM 2.0 chips. It is made out of three layers:

  • System API (SAPI), which implements the system layer API;
  • TPM Command Transmission Interface (TCTI), which is used by SAPI to allow communication with the TAB/RM layer;
  • Trusted Access Broker/Resource Manager (TAB/RM), which handles TPM resources and process coordination.

This package contains utilities and test applications for use with TPM.

There are three methods to install libsapi-utils on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libsapi-utils Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libsapi-utils using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libsapi-utils

How To Uninstall libsapi-utils on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the libsapi-utils package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libsapi-utils

Uninstall libsapi-utils And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libsapi-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsapi-utils

Remove libsapi-utils Configurations and Data

To remove libsapi-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libsapi-utils

Remove libsapi-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libsapi-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libsapi-utils
