How To Install librime-data on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install librime-data on Kali Linux.

What is librime-data

librime-data is:

RIME is the acronym of Rime Input Method Engine.

RIME is a lightweight, extensible input method engine supporting various input schematas including glyph-based input methods, romanization-based input methods as well as those for Chinese dialects. It has the ability to compose phrases and sentences intelligently and provide very accurate traditional Chinese output. RIME’s cross-platform core library is written in C++, and can work consistently on different platforms with OS-specific wrappers.

This package provides the schema data of RIME.

There are three methods to install librime-data on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install librime-data Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install librime-data using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install librime-data

Install librime-data Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install librime-data using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install librime-data

Install librime-data Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install librime-data using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install librime-data

How To Uninstall librime-data on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the librime-data package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove librime-data

Uninstall librime-data And Its Dependencies

To uninstall librime-data and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove librime-data

Remove librime-data Configurations and Data

To remove librime-data configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge librime-data
