How To Install librep-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install librep-dev
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is librep-dev
librep-dev is:
rep is a dialect of Lisp, designed to be used both as an extension language for applications and as a general purpose programming language.
It was originally written to be mostly-compatible with Emacs Lisp, but has subsequently diverged markedly. Its aim is to combine the best features of Scheme and Common Lisp and provide an environment that is comfortable for implementing both small and large scale systems. It tries to be a “pragmatic” programming language.
This package contains the files needed to embed the rep interpreter in an application.
There are three methods to install librep-dev
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install librep-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install librep-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install librep-dev
Install librep-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install librep-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install librep-dev
Install librep-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install librep-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install librep-dev
How To Uninstall librep-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the librep-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove librep-dev
Uninstall librep-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall librep-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove librep-dev
Remove librep-dev Configurations and Data
To remove librep-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge librep-dev
Remove librep-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove librep-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
