RBD is a block device striped across multiple distributed objects in RADOS, a reliable, autonomic distributed object storage cluster developed as part of the Ceph distributed storage system. This is a shared library allowing applications to manage these block devices.

This package contains development files needed for building applications that link against librbd1.

There are three methods to install librbd-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install librbd-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get -y autoremove librbd-dev

To remove librbd-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge librbd-dev
