How To Install librapidxml-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install librapidxml-dev on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is librapidxml-dev
librapidxml-dev is:
RapidXml is a fast XML DOM-style parser written in C++.
RapidXml provides a minimalistic API and reduced memory footprint suitable for embedded applications.
Limitations:
- The parser ignores DOCTYPE declarations.
- There is no support for XML namespaces.
- The parser does not check for character validity.
- The interface of the parser does not conform to DOM specification.
- The parser does not check for attribute uniqueness.
There are three methods to install librapidxml-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install librapidxml-dev using apt by running the following command:

Install librapidxml-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install librapidxml-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install librapidxml-dev
How To Uninstall librapidxml-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the librapidxml-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove librapidxml-dev
Uninstall librapidxml-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall librapidxml-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove librapidxml-dev
Remove librapidxml-dev Configurations and Data
To remove librapidxml-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge librapidxml-dev
Remove librapidxml-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove librapidxml-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge librapidxml-dev
