How To Install libproj-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libproj-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libproj-dev
libproj-dev is:
Proj and invproj perform respective forward and inverse transformation of cartographic data to or from Cartesian data with a wide range of selectable projection functions (over 100 projections).
Geod and invgeod perform geodesic (Great Circle) computations for determining latitude, longitude and back azimuth of a terminus point given a initial point latitude, longitude, azimuth and distance (direct) or the forward and back azimuths and distance between an initial and terminus point latitudes and longitudes (inverse).
This package provides the PROJ development files.
There are three methods to install libproj-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libproj-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libproj-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libproj-devInstall libproj-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libproj-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libproj-devInstall libproj-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libproj-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libproj-devHow To Uninstall libproj-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libproj-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libproj-devUninstall libproj-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libproj-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libproj-devRemove libproj-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libproj-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libproj-devRemove libproj-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libproj-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libproj-devDependencies
