How To Install libprelude2 on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is libprelude2
libprelude2 is:
Prelude is a Universal “Security Information Management” (SIM) system. Its goals are performance and modularity. It is divided in two main parts :
- the Prelude sensors, responsible for generating alerts, such as snort sensor, featuring a signature engine, plugins for protocol analysis, and intrusion detection plugins, and the Prelude log monitoring lackey.
- the Prelude report server, collecting data from Prelude sensors, and generating user-readable reports.
This package contains the Prelude shared library.
There are three methods to install libprelude2
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get

and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libprelude2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libprelude2
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install libprelude2

After updating apt database, We can install libprelude2

Install libprelude2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libprelude2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libprelude2
How To Uninstall libprelude2 on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libprelude2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libprelude2
Uninstall libprelude2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libprelude2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libprelude2
Remove libprelude2 Configurations and Data

configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libprelude2
