How To Install libpq5 on Kali Linux

What is libpq5

libpq5 is:

libpq is a C library that enables user programs to communicate with the PostgreSQL database server. The server can be on another machine and accessed through TCP/IP. This version of libpq is compatible with servers from PostgreSQL 8.2 or later.

This package contains the run-time library, needed by packages using libpq.

PostgreSQL is an object-relational SQL database management system.

There are three methods to install libpq5 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libpq5 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libpq5 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libpq5

Install libpq5 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libpq5 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libpq5

Install libpq5 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libpq5 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libpq5

How To Uninstall libpq5 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libpq5 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libpq5

Uninstall libpq5 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libpq5 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpq5

Remove libpq5 Configurations and Data

To remove libpq5 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libpq5

Remove libpq5 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
