How To Install libpostgis-java on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpostgis-java on Kali Linux.

What is libpostgis-java

libpostgis-java is:

PostGIS adds support for geographic objects to the PostgreSQL object-relational database. In effect, PostGIS “spatially enables” the PostgreSQL server, allowing it to be used as a backend spatial database for geographic information systems (GIS), much like ESRI’s SDE or Oracle’s Spatial extension. PostGIS follows the OpenGIS “Simple Features Specification for SQL”.

This package contains JDBC support for PostGIS.

There are three methods to install libpostgis-java on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libpostgis-java Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libpostgis-java using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libpostgis-java

How To Uninstall libpostgis-java on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libpostgis-java package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libpostgis-java

Uninstall libpostgis-java And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libpostgis-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpostgis-java

Remove libpostgis-java Configurations and Data

To remove libpostgis-java configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libpostgis-java

Remove libpostgis-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libpostgis-java configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
