How To Install libpocl2-common on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libpocl2-common
libpocl2-common is:
Portable Computing Language is an open source implementation of the OpenCL standard which can be easily adapted for new targets. One of the goals of the project is improving performance portability of OpenCL programs, avoiding the need for target-dependent manual optimizations. A “native” target is included, which allows running OpenCL kernels on the host (CPU).
This package provides the architecture independent files of the pocl library.
There are three methods to install libpocl2-common on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpocl2-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpocl2-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpocl2-common
Install libpocl2-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpocl2-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpocl2-common
Install libpocl2-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpocl2-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpocl2-common
How To Uninstall libpocl2-common on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libpocl2-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpocl2-common
Uninstall libpocl2-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpocl2-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpocl2-common
Remove libpocl2-common Configurations and Data
To remove libpocl2-common configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpocl2-common
Remove libpocl2-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpocl2-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libpocl2-common
