How To Install libpmem-debug on CentOS 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpmem-debug on CentOS 8.
What is libpmem-debug
The libpmem provides low level persistent memory support. In particular, support for the persistent memory instructions for flushing changes to pmem is provided. This sub-package contains debug variant of the library, providing run-time assertions and trace points. The typical way to access the debug version is to set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib64/pmdk_debug.
We can use yum or dnf to install libpmem-debug on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libpmem-debug.
Install libpmem-debug on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libpmem-debug using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libpmem-debug
Install libpmem-debug on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libpmem-debug using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libpmem-debug
How To Uninstall libpmem-debug on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the libpmem-debug package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libpmem-debug
