How To Install libpixie-java on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpixie-java on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libpixie-java
libpixie-java is:
Pixie is a WMF-File reading library originally written as converter for the Pixie-ImageViewer. Pixie was long time dead and is now resurrected as WMF-Reader and ImageProducer for Java 1.2.2 or higher.
Pixie lacks the support for most BitMap-Formats but everything else is working fine. Write-Support will be implemented somewhere in the future, classes for the writesupport are mostly dummies at the moment.
There are three methods to install libpixie-java on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpixie-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpixie-java using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpixie-java
Install libpixie-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpixie-java using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpixie-java
Install libpixie-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpixie-java using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpixie-java
How To Uninstall libpixie-java on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libpixie-java package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpixie-java
Uninstall libpixie-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpixie-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpixie-java
Remove libpixie-java Configurations and Data
To remove libpixie-java configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpixie-java
Remove libpixie-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpixie-java configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libpixie-java
