How To Install libpcre2-dev on Kali Linux

What is libpcre2-dev

This is PCRE2, the new implementation of PCRE, a library of functions to support regular expressions whose syntax and semantics are as close as possible to those of the Perl 5 language. New projects should use this library in preference to the older library, confusingly called pcre3 in Debian.
This package contains the development files, including headers, static libraries, and documentation.
There are three methods to install libpcre2-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpcre2-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libpcre2-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpcre2-devInstall libpcre2-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the libpcre2-dev package we can use the following command:

To uninstall libpcre2-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

To remove libpcre2-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpcre2-devRemove libpcre2-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
