How To Install libpawlib2-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpawlib2-dev on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libpawlib2-dev
libpawlib2-dev is:
CERNLIB is a suite of data analysis tools and libraries created for use in physics experiments, but also with applications to other fields such as the biological sciences.
This package includes a static version of (most of) the library pawlib, required by the CERNLIB application PAW. In addition to the internal workings of PAW, pawlib also provides the COMIS FORTRAN interpreter and the SIGMA array manipulation language. The Lesstif-dependent parts of the library are provided in the libpawlib-lesstif3-dev package.
The COMIS portion of this library is functional on 64-bit machines only when statically linked.
There are three methods to install libpawlib2-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpawlib2-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpawlib2-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpawlib2-dev using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpawlib2-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpawlib2-dev
How To Uninstall libpawlib2-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libpawlib2-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpawlib2-dev
Uninstall libpawlib2-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpawlib2-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpawlib2-dev

To remove libpawlib2-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpawlib2-dev
Remove libpawlib2-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpawlib2-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libpawlib2-dev
