How To Install libpam-yubico on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpam-yubico on Kali Linux.
What is libpam-yubico
libpam-yubico is:
This package provides the Yubico PAM module. It enables the use of two-factor authentication, with existing logins and passwords plus a YubiKey One-Time Password that is validated against an online validation service. The default is the free YubiCloud, but it is easy to set up a custom service.
A second mode of operation is available using the YubiKey’s HMAC-SHA-1 Challenge-Response functionality. This allows for offline validation using a YubiKey, for example on a laptop computer. However, this only works for local logins, not for instance SSH logins.
There are three methods to install libpam-yubico on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpam-yubico Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libpam-yubico using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpam-yubicoInstall libpam-yubico Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libpam-yubico using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libpam-yubico using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpam-yubicoHow To Uninstall libpam-yubico on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libpam-yubico package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpam-yubicoUninstall libpam-yubico And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpam-yubico and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpam-yubicoRemove libpam-yubico Configurations and Data
To remove libpam-yubico configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpam-yubicoRemove libpam-yubico configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpam-yubico configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libpam-yubicoDependencies
