How To Install libpam-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpam-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libpam-ocaml
libpam-ocaml is:
OCamlPAM is a wrapper for the Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) library. PAM provides a flexible mechanism for authenticating users via administrator-defined policies. PAM has modules for authenticating via Unix passwd files, Kerberos, LDAP, etc. Additional modules for custom authentication mechanisms can be created and deployed without recompiling existing services based on PAM. Moreover, policies defining the authentication requirements can be changed at runtime without restarting running services.
This package contains only the shared runtime stub library for OCamlPAM.
There are three methods to install libpam-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpam-ocaml Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-ocaml using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpam-ocaml
Install libpam-ocaml Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-ocaml using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpam-ocaml
Install libpam-ocaml Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-ocaml using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpam-ocaml
How To Uninstall libpam-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libpam-ocaml package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpam-ocaml
Uninstall libpam-ocaml And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpam-ocaml and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpam-ocaml
Remove libpam-ocaml Configurations and Data
To remove libpam-ocaml configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpam-ocaml
Remove libpam-ocaml configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpam-ocaml configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libpam-ocaml
