How To Install libpam-chroot on Debian 11
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libpam-chroot
on Debian 11.
What is libpam-chroot
libpam-chroot is:
This package includes a special (but not thoroughly tested) PAM module to provide chrooted (restricted) environments for users. The module tries to provide a transparent wrapper around the average user, one that puts them in a fake file-system (eg, their ‘/’ is really /some/where/else).
In order to setup this environment in Debian please read the README.Debian as well as the detailed example provided in /usr/share/doc/libpam-chroot/examples
There are three methods to install libpam-chroot
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpam-chroot Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-chroot
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpam-chroot
Install libpam-chroot Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-chroot
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpam-chroot
Install libpam-chroot Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-chroot
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpam-chroot
How To Uninstall libpam-chroot on Debian 11
To uninstall only the libpam-chroot
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpam-chroot
Uninstall libpam-chroot And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpam-chroot
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpam-chroot
Remove libpam-chroot Configurations and Data
To remove libpam-chroot
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpam-chroot
Remove libpam-chroot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpam-chroot
