How To Install libpam-cap on Kali Linux

What is libpam-cap
libpam-cap is:
Libcap implements the user-space interfaces to the POSIX 1003.1e capabilities available in Linux kernels. These capabilities are a partitioning of the all powerful root privilege into a set of distinct privileges.
This package contains the PAM module for enforcing capabilities on users and groups at PAM session start time.
There are three methods to install libpam-cap
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpam-cap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-cap
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpam-cap

using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libpam-cap

Install libpam-cap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpam-cap
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install libpam-cap
How To Uninstall libpam-cap on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libpam-cap
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpam-cap
Uninstall libpam-cap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpam-cap
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpam-cap
Remove libpam-cap Configurations and Data
To remove libpam-cap
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpam-cap
