What is libotb
libotb is:
ORFEO Toolbox (OTB) is distributed as an open source library of image processing algorithms. OTB is based on the medical image processing library ITK and offers particular functionalities for remote sensing image processing in general and for high spatial resolution images in particular.
This metapackage provides all shared libraries used by OTB.
There are three methods to install libotb
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libotb Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libotb
using apt-get
by running the following command:

After updating apt database, We can install libotb
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libotb
Install libotb Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install libotb

How To Uninstall libotb on Debian 11
To uninstall only the libotb
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libotb

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libotb
