How To Install libode-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libode-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libode-dev
libode-dev is:
ODE is a free, industrial quality library for simulating articulated rigid body dynamics - for example ground vehicles, legged creatures, and moving objects in VR environments. It is fast, flexible, robust and platform independent, with advanced joints, contact with friction, and built-in collision detection.
This package provides the header files and static libraries built with double precision, default in 64 bits platforms. In 32 bits platforms default is single precision.
There are three methods to install libode-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libode-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libode-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libode-devInstall libode-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libode-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libode-devInstall libode-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libode-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libode-devHow To Uninstall libode-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libode-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libode-devUninstall libode-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libode-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libode-devRemove libode-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libode-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libode-devRemove libode-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libode-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libode-devDependencies
