How To Install liboath-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

What is liboath-dev
liboath-dev is:
The OATH Toolkit makes it easy to build one-time password authentication systems. It contains shared libraries, command line tools and a PAM module. Supported technologies include the event-based HOTP algorithm (RFC4226) and the time-based TOTP algorithm (RFC6238). OATH stands for Open AuTHentication, which is the organization that specify the algorithms. For managing secret key files, the Portable Symmetric Key Container (PSKC) format described in RFC6030 is supported.
This package contain all files necessary for developing programs that use Liboath.
There are three methods to install liboath-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install liboath-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install liboath-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install liboath-dev
Install liboath-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install liboath-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install liboath-dev
Install liboath-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install liboath-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install liboath-dev
How To Uninstall liboath-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the liboath-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove liboath-dev
Uninstall liboath-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall liboath-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove liboath-dev
Remove liboath-dev Configurations and Data
To remove liboath-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge liboath-dev
Remove liboath-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove liboath-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge liboath-dev
