How To Install libnss-sss on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libnss-sss on Kali Linux.
What is libnss-sss
libnss-sss is:
Provides a set of daemons to manage access to remote directories and authentication mechanisms. It provides an NSS and PAM interface toward the system and a pluggable backend system to connect to multiple different account sources. It is also the basis to provide client auditing and policy services for projects like FreeIPA.
This package provide the nss library to connect to the sssd daemon.
There are three methods to install libnss-sss on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libnss-sss Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libnss-sss using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libnss-sssInstall libnss-sss Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libnss-sss using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libnss-sssInstall libnss-sss Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libnss-sss using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libnss-sssHow To Uninstall libnss-sss on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libnss-sss package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libnss-sssUninstall libnss-sss And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libnss-sss and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libnss-sssRemove libnss-sss Configurations and Data
To remove libnss-sss configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libnss-sssRemove libnss-sss configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libnss-sss configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
