How To Install libnss-libvirt on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libnss-libvirt on Kali Linux.
What is libnss-libvirt
libnss-libvirt is:
Libvirt is a C toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes). The library aims at providing a long term stable C API for different virtualization mechanisms. It currently supports QEMU, KVM, XEN, OpenVZ, LXC, and VirtualBox.
This package contains two nss plugins for IP address resolution of libvirt managed virtual machines: the ’libvirt_guest’ plugin uses libvirt’s domain names while the ’libvirt’ plugin looks at the guest’s hostname.
There are three methods to install libnss-libvirt on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libnss-libvirt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libnss-libvirt using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libnss-libvirtInstall libnss-libvirt Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libnss-libvirt using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libnss-libvirtInstall libnss-libvirt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libnss-libvirt using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libnss-libvirtHow To Uninstall libnss-libvirt on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libnss-libvirt package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libnss-libvirtUninstall libnss-libvirt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libnss-libvirt and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libnss-libvirtRemove libnss-libvirt Configurations and Data
To remove libnss-libvirt configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libnss-libvirtRemove libnss-libvirt configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libnss-libvirt configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libnss-libvirtDependencies
