How To Install libnotify on AlmaLinux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install libnotify on AlmaLinux 8.
What is libnotify
libnotify is a library for sending desktop notifications to a notification daemon, as defined in the freedesktop.org Desktop Notifications spec. These notifications can be used to inform the user about an event or display some form of information without getting in the user’s way.
We can use yum or dnf to install libnotify on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libnotify.
Install libnotify on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libnotify using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libnotify
Install libnotify on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libnotify using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libnotify
How To Uninstall libnotify on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the libnotify package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libnotify
