What is libnifti2

libnifti2 is:

Niftilib is a set of i/o libraries for reading and writing files in the NIfTI-1 data format. NIfTI-1 is a binary file format for storing medical image data, e.g. magnetic resonance image (MRI) and functional MRI (fMRI) brain images.

This package contains the shared library of the low-level IO library niftiio, low-level IO library znzlib and the nifticdf shared library that provides functions to compute cumulative distributions and their inverses.

There are three methods to install libnifti2 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libnifti2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libnifti2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libnifti2

Install libnifti2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libnifti2 using apt by running the following command:

Install libnifti2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libnifti2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libnifti2

To uninstall libnifti2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libnifti2

Remove libnifti2 Configurations and Data

To remove libnifti2 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libnifti2

We can use the following command to remove libnifti2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libnifti2
