How To Install libmtp-runtime on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libmtp-runtime
libmtp-runtime is:
libmtp is a library for communicating with MTP aware devices in POSIX compliant operating systems. It implements MTP Basic, the subset proposed for standardization.
The Media Transfer Protocol (commonly referred to as MTP) is a devised set of custom extensions to support the transfer of music files on USB digital audio players and movie files on USB portable media players.
This package provides mtp-probe, a program to probe newly connected device interfaces from userspace to determine if they are MTP devices, used for udev rules.
There are three methods to install libmtp-runtime on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmtp-runtime Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmtp-runtime using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmtp-runtime using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libmtp-runtime
Install libmtp-runtime Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmtp-runtime using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmtp-runtime
How To Uninstall libmtp-runtime on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libmtp-runtime package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmtp-runtime
Uninstall libmtp-runtime And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libmtp-runtime and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmtp-runtime
Remove libmtp-runtime Configurations and Data
To remove libmtp-runtime configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmtp-runtime
Remove libmtp-runtime configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libmtp-runtime configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmtp-runtime
