How To Install libmikmatch-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libmikmatch-ocaml
libmikmatch-ocaml is:
Mikmatch provides enhanced pattern matching with regexps for OCaml.
The goal of Mikmatch is to make text-oriented programs even easier to write, read and run without losing the unique and powerful features of OCaml. Mikmatch provides a concise and highly readable syntax for regular expressions, and integrates it into the syntax of OCaml thanks to Camlp4.
The implementation of Mikmatch consists essentially of:
- a library which is loaded by the OCaml preprocessor (Camlp4) and defines sophisticated “macros”, i.e. the modified syntax;
- a traditional library (runtime) which is required by the programs that use the Mikmatch syntax;
- a dedicated ‘mikmatch’ command which can be used as a replacement for ‘ocaml’ in scripts or as an interactive toplevel. It performs automatically these steps: preprocessing, compilation and execution.
This package contains the shared runtime libraries.
There are three methods to install libmikmatch-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmikmatch-ocaml Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmikmatch-ocaml using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libmikmatch-ocaml
Install libmikmatch-ocaml Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmikmatch-ocaml using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libmikmatch-ocaml
Install libmikmatch-ocaml Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmikmatch-ocaml using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmikmatch-ocaml
How To Uninstall libmikmatch-ocaml on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libmikmatch-ocaml package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmikmatch-ocaml
Uninstall libmikmatch-ocaml And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libmikmatch-ocaml and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmikmatch-ocaml
Remove libmikmatch-ocaml Configurations and Data
To remove libmikmatch-ocaml configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmikmatch-ocaml
Remove libmikmatch-ocaml configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libmikmatch-ocaml configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmikmatch-ocaml
